Allied Specialty Insurance Announces Leadership Changes

TREASURE ISLAND, Florida, November 9, 2018 – Allied Specialty Insurance, Inc., a subsidiary of AXA XL, has announced the retirement of Chairman and President Mary Chris Smith, effective December 31, 2018.

Upon Ms. Smith’s retirement, Kym Tormey, Director of Strategic Operations at AXA XL, will assume interim leadership of Allied Specialty, reporting to Donna Nadeau, Chief Operating Officer for AXA XL’s North America Property & Casualty business which included Allied Specialty. Ms. Tormey brings nearly 30 years of insurance business strategy and operations experience to Allied, having worked closely with the team during its continued integration with XL Group, now AXA XL.

According to Ms. Nadeau, “Mary Chris’ dedication to the amusement and entertainment industry is unrivaled, and, she has built a team that is equally knowledgeable and dedicated to servicing the insurance needs of the industry. Ms. Smith has been associated with the amusement industry her entire life. She became involved with Allied in 1992 and assumed leadership of the company in 2004 before selling the company to XL Group in 2016. On a day to day basis, Ms. Smith manages Allied’s production team and represents the company at various industry functions, and through memberships in numerous industry associations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Outdoor Amusement Business Association.
